![]() But they're getting, they're trying to get, data back from it and he's talking about how they are trying to contact it just the day before. Jeff: I listened to that episode, and he was talking about how right now there is a sandstorm on Mars and so opportunity is in the basically a sleep mode. Like, in fact just on a recent one you talked to a guy directly involved with the opportunity rover on Mars. You've talked to some astronauts, like you said, some scientific people. Absolutely, absolutely!ĭustin: And you've talked to some musicians on your show. ![]() Jeff: So, knowing all that, would you shoot yourself into space if you had a chance?Ĭhuck: Oh my gosh, I'd be the first one there. It's gotta be a different perspective right? You're up above the earth, looking down, see how small everything is that we make a such a big deal of in our everyday life. But even veteran astronauts can have a moment where they all of a sudden get nauseous up there, and I thought, "Wow, that's kinda neat." So I love that, and then just looking down. They get up there, they're fine, no worries. A lot of people get sick, and I didn't realize that a lot more astronauts get sick than I thought. That's kinda what got me into it.ĭustin: So what kind of direction do your questions go for somebody like an astronaut?Ĭhuck: Well, being a fan of space, I always want to know what is it like, you know, when you go from gravity on earth to zero G. I can have a conversation with them and then share it with the world. I just started reaching out and said, the way I viewed it is I want to reach people that I would want their autograph.Ĭhuck: Honest people who have really changed the world and I might not be able to meet them and physically get their autograph, but I can have the next best thing. I was like, "Okay!"Ĭhuck: So all of a sudden, I had two astronauts and just the rest is history. And they're like "He can do it in two hours". And then I got an email from astronaut Scott Kelly's agent. I reach out to him and literally 15 minutes after I reach out to him he says "Oh yeah, I'll do it." And then I got back from, just a few days later, from vacation. Story Musgrave and I thought, well let me just reach out to him. I thought well I'd really like to this one astronaut I know. And I just remember going on vacation with my wife and I was talking about it and she said, "Well you know it's an online coffee break, you can talk about whatever you want." And I thought, well same thing as you there, Jeff. And that was going okay, but there was something missing. Lots of people have problems in technology let me do some nice podcasts on just sit down technology world. You know I'm a tech geek, I'm a software guy and I thought well let's just. It's amazing just how much life has changed in seven months. But I want to ask, what got you into podcasting?Ĭhuck: Well, it's funny, I had the idea for quite some time and it's only been like seven months. Jeff: It's everything we love about a good podcast. Jeff: It's short, concise, it's easily digestible, it has coffee in the name. ![]() Jeff: And I want to start there because I love your show.
